Free’Taster Pack’

The London Borough of Hounslow offer a free incentive scheme for parents wanting to try washable nappies. As there are so many different types of washable nappies and more brands than can be listed on 10 tiny fingers and toes our Real Nappy Incentive Scheme offers a free taster pack worth over £50 so you can try washable nappies at home.

The taster pack contains three different types of cloth nappy so you can find the best fit for your baby. Myself or  a representative from the Hounslow Council or West London Waste Authority will go through the differences when you pick up your taster pack at your nearest Nappy Natter session -see my Events Diary for dates and locations.

Remember to bring along your three forms of approved ID with you. See terms and conditions for details.

How do I wash the nappies?

  1. Pre-wash your nappies on a cold rinse in your wet bag. Make sure the bag is fully open, the cycle takes 5-10 mins
  2. Put your nappies and any other washing on a 40-60 degree wash(you can lower to 40 degrees when baby is 3 months old)
  3. Line dry your nappies (inserts can be tumble dried on low if you are really in a a rush!)

More info on the do’s & don’t’s of washing cloth nappies in the Wash & Care Guide

What about the poo?!

The poo goes down the toilet and into the sewers where it should go! If you are using your nappies on a new born their poo can be very runny and the liner will not catch all of it. This is not a problem as it will wash off in the cold rinse cycle (your washing machine water goes to the sewers)

I love my taster pack! How do I ‘go cloth’ ?

If you would like to see what other types and brands of nappies look and feel like then I recommend you come along to my monthly Nappuccino or hire a trial kit.
